Creaks

Writer's picture: Terry Wayne ConderTerry Wayne Conder

So I posted a video of a new song called "Creaks". This song is important to me. I have three kids with my first wife, who remains a very important person in my life. We were talking about things we fear, in regards to our kids.

We both agree that it scares us to think that they grow up feeling unfulfilled. She and I both struggle with mental health, and always have. We don't want them to struggle the way we have, or let it effect them the way it has us.

That conversation produced "Creaks".

Time

Tends to slip away under your nose

And all those precious moments turn to ghosts

To haunt the you that you used to know

What did we know

Those old photos in attics

Collect their dust and that's all they're good for

Reminders of what one time seemed so sure

Dreams we once allowed ourselves

Back when we allowed ourselves to dream

Before the world told us who we'd be

Rattled chains and old floorboard creaks
